New Clubhouse Update (August 2010)!
The Davis Tennis Club has received unanimous approval from the Davis Recreation and Park
Commission and the Davis City Council to enter into a lease agreement to renovate and occupy the "Costume Guild Building" behind the Veteran's Memorial Center for use as our clubhouse.
The Davis Tennis Club board has retained Mak Design+Builld to develop a floor plan and preliminary specifications and an estimate for construction costs. The primary project goal is to improve the existing building so that we have space for hosting social gatherings and visiting interclub teams, storage of equipment, a home base for Dale Hersch and his programs, and a space for board meetings. The Board anticipates that volunteer labor from Davis Tennis Club members in demoliton of interior and exterior paneling and siding, and exterior and interior painting will help keep the costs down.
The Davis Tennis Club board will keep you informed of developments this fall, and we urge you to be ready to "strap on your tool belts" when we call for your help!

Squeegee Protection
Dale has recently refurbished the squeegees on the high school tennis courts. They were in poor shape because students were
removing them from the tennis courts and playing around with them in the park. Please help protect our squeegees by hanging them
up on the fences away from court entrances, especially away from the front and side entrances to courts 1-3 (courts closest to
parking lot).

Walnut Park Benches
The City of Davis Parks and Recreation department has recently installed 6 new benches at the Walnut Park tennis courts. These benches were purchased by the Davis Tennis Club in its continuing effort to enhance your tennis-playing experience.
The benches are similar to the sturdy blue benches that the club purchased for the high school courts 4 years ago.
Like the high school benches, the Walnut Park benches have spaces for commemorative plaques. For $1,000, you may dedicate a bench to a person or persons of your choosing. At this time, all 6 Walnut Park benches are available. If you are interested in dedicating a bench, please contact Chris Dewees.
Proceeds from the dedications will be used to fund future court improvements.

Norcal USTA League Registration information
Norcal USTA is looking to promote beginning level players by offering a $150 stipend to teams with 5 or more new USTA members. This is a great way to improve basic skills and have fun meeting new people! If anyone is interested in organizing a team and would like more information please contact Jennifer Castle, our Norcal USTA coordinator!
New Super Senior 70+ League!
There is a pilot league that USTA NorCal is offering and hopefully we could get some folks from Davis/Woodland to participate in the league this year. Last year we ended up having a Super Senior 70+ 7.0 Men’s League with 6 teams. This year, we will probably have the same teams or even more, but we would love to have some women participate as well. For more information, view the guidelines or a flyer announcing the league.
